ABOUT US

Who we are

Yayasan Sikh Malaysia (YSM) is a community based, non-profit organisation. We focus on aiding, developing, and uplifting the Sikh Community in Malaysia by implementing Guruji’s Wisdom.

Since 2010, we work with the aim of providing necessary assistance to Sikh community – feeding the needy ones, providing shelter for the homeless group, provide skills training to the youth, women’ social status empowerment, and social services. Ultimately we aim to enhance harmony and social stability within our Sikh community.

What we do

We collaborated with local gurdwaras and other Sikh NGOs in assisting our local Sikh Malaysian citizens in obtaining their Identification Card (IC) as well as tackling social & domestic issues.

Mental health support is another  important segment which we emphasised on. Guidance & support is available for those with mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, addiction.

Yayasan for Youth

YSM takes pride in engaging with the youth by embedding them with the core values of Sikhi – Love for all, selfless service, humility, compassion, equality, and justice for all.

Our aim is to equip the youth group with knowledge on Gurbani and our glorious Sikh history. We achieve this by nurturing our youth by providing them with a support network that cultivates an awareness and interest in their Sikh identity and faith.  Comprehensive training camps are organised to further enhance them with motivation, leadership skills within context of their spirituality, academics, career, family, and community engagement.

“The Supreme God, through the divine Guru, protects and preserves Gods Children” – Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 819

Yayasan for Women

YSM is keen on driving the uplift of women within our social community. We constantly encourage women to seek leadership roles in the faith, congregations, and community.

YSM also tackles domestic and social abuse issue. Over the years we have managed to solve many domestic issues involving women within our community with our engagement programmes. Women have been and will continue to be a key drive force in YSM as well as in our wider Sikh community and we will continue to provide our unconditional support in empowering our Princess.

“From woman, man is born; within woman, man is conceived; to woman he is engaged and married.
Woman becomes his friend; through woman, the future generations come.
When his woman dies, he seeks another woman; to woman he is bound.
So why call her bad from whom kings are born.
From woman, woman is born; without woman, there would be no one at all.
O Nanak, only the True Lord is without a woman.
That mouth which praises the Lord continually is blessed and beautiful.
O Nanak, those faces shall be radiant in the Court of the True Lord”. – Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 473

Yayasan for the Community

Sewa is the nature of human life in Sikhi. We continuously serve our Malaysia community regardless of race, religion, gender, or age by providing selfless aid in various ways without the intention of any reward.

Over the years we have been serving Malaysian community by accommodating the homeless, feeding the needy with our langar programmes, providing welfare support during natural disasters as well as providing moral and medical assistance. We continue to provide humanitarian aid in disaster reliefs during and after the crisis and disaster periods. YSM thrives on the Sikh concept of Sarbat Da Bhala with various philanthropy works and will continue to support our community with Taan, Maan and Dhan.

“In the midst of this world, do seva, and you shall be given a place of honour in the Court of the Lord. Says Nanak, swing your arms in joy”! – Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 26
